QwikFix, a small local computer fix-it store, wanted to increase business in the shadow of larger competitor, Best Buy’s Geek Squad. QwikFix’s advantages were their in-home or in-office service calls, the personal one-on-one relationships, a wider range of services and more years of experience. To be able to compete, they needed a broader brand position from a mom-and-pop shop to a full-service computer-solutions store.

I used the ads to convey their main advantage, a reliable trusted friend you can call anytime. Slightly humorous headlines of “S.O.S. distress calls answered daily,” “Have an Esc plan that works” and “Love Hate Relationship” empathize with the customer and evoke camaraderie, while the testimonial series focused more on the integrity and trust. I tied all the ads together with a consistent brand presence for increased recognition in the marketplace.
